ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD

Print

OBJECTIVE: Pick a film or a play and transform the script into a typographic book. The book should be an interpretation of the film and purely typographic without illustrations or imagery.

PROJECT STATEMENT: I chose to transform Once Upon a Time in Hollywood directed by Quentin Tarantino into a script book. In the film, one of the two main characters is Rick Dalton, who stars in Westerns, and the other main character is his stunt double. Because of that, the film has a lot of western themes, but for my book I wanted to focus more on the theme of old Hollywood in the late 60’s and early 70’s. In order to animate the script when something wild, crazy, or important was happening, I experimented with different ways to make the type stand out.
